Playing in Theatres

I was planning on seeing and writing about the new Spider-Man: Far from Home movie, (how much cooler would it be to say it was part 7 of an on-going character arc?), but I didn’t see it yet. I wonder if it is the movie now out that I want to see the most? These 15 films are currently in theatres, listed in order of recent box office totals:

  1. Toy Story 4 – I will see someday, only saw the first one, and really liked it, (duh)
  2. Annabelle Comes Home – same, mildly interested but haven’t seen the first two
  3. Yesterday – looks good but I don’t want to listen to Beatles music for two hours
  4. Aladdin – looks good and I already like the soundtrack, big fan of Will Smith
  5. The Secret Life of Pets 2 – I liked the first and looks like more of the same fun
  6. Men in Black International – I’m not in a rush but the first three are close to the heart
  7. Avengers: Endgame – seen it, I think, good thing they re-released it to make sure
  8. Child’s Play – I’ll see it but a needless remake at this point, I liked the past series
  9. Rocketman – I’m interested to see Taron Egerton in this and learn more about Elton John
  10. John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum – seen it, Keanu Reeves is awesome, great action!
  11. Godzilla: King of the Monsters – seen it, God not a King! great monster villains/fights
  12. Dark Phoenix – seen it, it could have been better, (part 10!?!) want more with this crew!
  13. Anna – really want to see it! big fan of the writer/director Luc Besson, trailer is great!
  14. Shaft – really wanted to see it many years ago! hope it’s fun with the younger crew added
  15. Late Night – mild interest, both Emma Thompson and Mindy Kaling can get laughs

I remember seeing 1 or 2 per week in theatres so I am well off my game, (4/15). My top three I want to see in order would be Anna, Shaft, and Spider-Man. Anna stars a young model with little acting experience, Sasha Luss, (not unlike Milla Jovovich) but the film is heavy on trying to look good with very polished action scenes, and the trailer is so much fun. The first Shaft film came out in 1971, the same dude is in this one along with Samuel L. Jackson who was in the reboot in 2000, (which I really liked), and this one adds Regina Hall, (who I can laugh at just hearing her voice). Of course I will see Spider-Man, but more for Jake Gyllenhaal who I love in everything, (Prisoners, Jarhead).
