Tina Fey

Tina Fey

I first saw Tina on Saturday Night Live and thought she was hilarious, especially doing her Sarah Palin impression and co-hosting Weekend Update. She has excellent timing, delivery, and she can improvise, making her one of the best anchors of funny news shows ever. Equally talented in front of and behind the camera (she is a writer), she has made numerous characters that we care about and want to hear from. Pulling off an impression of a real life person is not easy but like most of her work, she never seems to have difficulty finding a laugh. She even made the Golden Globes worth watching when she co-hosted 3 times with Amy Poehler. Some of the best movies made by funny male actors I like all have Tina as the lead female, I do not believe this is a coincidence. She reined in Steve Carell’s over the top stylings (Date Night in 2010), focused Paul Rudd’s rants (Admission in 2013), and pushed Jason Bateman out of his comfort zone (This is Where I Leave You in 2014).

Tina was born in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, studied drama at the University of Virginia, and got into the Second City comedy club/theatre/school in Chicago in the early 1990s. Writers from Saturday Night Live (including Adam McKay) saw her there and gave her a job at SNL as a writer. In a few years, she became the first female head writer, was in numerous sketches, and co-hosted Weekend Update with Jimmy Fallon. After leaving SNL, she starred with Alec Baldwin in the tv show 30 Rock (2006-2013) and was in 3 films with good friend Amy Poehler, Mean Girls (2004), Baby Mama (2008) and Sisters (2015). Fey most recently has co-created, writes, produces, and has appeared in the tv show Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

Thank you and Happy Birthday Tina!
