I grew up in the 1990s and thanks to my older sister who watched Wayne’s World on repeat (and can recite the whole film, not just Bohemian Rhapsody), I grew up laughing with Mike Myers. He was one of the first actors I knew was Canadian, which made me like him even more because I already really liked his humor and that he always seemed like such a nice guy. Mike was the reason I began watching Saturday Night Live and I loved seeing him deliver characters and jokes. Following his career with the Austin Powers and Shrek series, and his small but memorable role in Inglourious Basterds, I have always looked forward to seeing what Mike is up to next as a comedian and as a proud supporter of his Canadian roots. Myers will next be seen in Terminal (starring Margot Robbie).
Mike was born in Scarborough, Toronto, Canada, was in commercials at age 2, on tv at age 12, and by age 23 was a cast member of Second City in Toronto. Three years later he was on SNL (for 125 episodes 1989-2015), and performed memorable characters such as Wayne Campbell, (also in 2 films in 1992 and 1993), Dieter, Linda Richman, and Phillip. Myers played multiple roles in So I Married an Axe Murderer (1993), a trend he would continue in 3 Austin Powers movies (1997-2002, a 4th has been rumored ever since). He was also in the comedies Mystery, Alaska (1999 with Russell Crowe), View from the Top (2003 with Gwyneth Paltrow), and The Love Guru (2008 with Jessica Alba). Performing in kid friendly projects, Mike has done voice work for 4 Shrek feature films + shorts (2001-2012), and starred in The Cat in the Hat (2003) while also taking on more dramatic roles in films such as 54 (1998 with Ryan Phillippe), and Inglourious Basterds (2009 with Brad Pitt).
Thank you and Happy Birthday Mike!
