Morena Baccarin

Morena Baccarin

I first saw Morena in the tv show Firefly, which was only on for 1 season (2002-2003) and 1 movie, Serenity (2005). Morena was part of a group lead by Nathan Fillion but it was the dynamic between the two of them that gave the show its most watchable moments. Fast forwarding 15 years, Morena continues to be at the heart of what made Deadpool (2016) and tv show Gotham (2015-present) successful. She can match wits with Ryan Reynolds and gives Ben McKenzie every reason to grow up. Comic book properties do not work without a proper hero and villain, as well as an element that Morena continues to deliver. She is smart, fleshing out characters with back stories and motivations, and dramatic, giving her costars so much to work with that they become better themselves. After receiving an Emmy nomination for her role in the tv show Homeland and a starring role in the series V, there are plenty of choices to see Morena’s talents.

Morena was born in Rio de Janerio, Brazil, joined the theatre program at the Juilliard School in New York, and made her feature film debut at age 22 in the comedy Perfume (2001). She was in 3 episodes of The O.C. in 2006, which had her current Gotham costar Ben McKenzie in. In 2007, she was in all 9 episodes of Heartland, both seasons of V (2009-2011), and was in 36 episodes of Homeland (2011-2013). The tv mini series The Red Tent (2014-2017), tv show The Flash (2014-2016), and the movie Spy (2015 starring Melissa McCarthy) can all boast having Morena in their credits. Her voice talents will next be heard in Malevolent and Elliot the Littlest Reindeer, until appearing in Deadpool 2.

Thank you and Happy Birthday Morena!
