Tim Allen
One of the shows that my family watched together was Home Improvement (1991-1999) starring Tim Allen. I looked forward to seeing what invention he would have or what item got a bigger engine installed, as well has always having a positive family message, and making fun of Al. The show lasted 203 episodes over 8 seasons and I always liked how Tim looked like he was always scheming something, always planning a renovation or getting a joke ready. He also starred in 3 Santa Clause movies (1994-2006) which are now seasonal favorites and I also read one of his two books (Don’t Stand Too Close to a Naked Man in 1994 and I’m Not Really Here in 1996). Allen has done plenty of voice work in his career, such as Buzz Lightyear in 3 feature films and multiple shorts of the Toy Story franchise (1995-2014), a 4th film of which is being made.
Tim Allen was born in Denver, Colorado, received a degree in communications specializing in radio and television production in university, and soon began stand up comedy at the age of 22. During the height of popularity of Home Improvement, Tim appeared on episodes of other comedy shows including The Drew Carey Show, The Larry Sanders Show, and Spin City. He also got into films starring in Jungle 2 Jungle (1997 with Martin Short), For Richer or Poorer (1997 with Kirstie Alley), and Galaxy Quest (1999 with Sigourney Weaver). Allen would continue balancing family friendly films (Joe Somebody in 2001, Christmas with the Kranks in 2004, Wild Hogs in 2007) with comedic crime films Big Trouble (2002, a recently new personal fav) and Crazy on the Outside (2010, he also directed this and paired him again with Sigourney Weaver). Tim was most recently seen on the tv show Last Man Standing (6 seasons, 130 episodes 2011-2017) and will next be seen in El Camino Christmas (with Jessica Alba).
Thank you and Happy Birthday Tim!
