Chris Pratt
Chris Pratt is an actor with great comedic timing, an easy going demeanour, and is blossoming into a bankable leading man. Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) was the first movie I took notice of Chris as he played the role of Peter Quill in the Marvel superhero film. Despite the saturation of superhero movies, lots of unrecognizable alien characters, and Chris being unproven in such a large budget, science fiction, action, adventure role, the film was a hit. A large part of the success was due to Chris’ humor, dancing, relationships, and dramatic physical preparation for the role. He returned to the role in Vol. 2 (2017) and is filming his third portrayal in Avengers: Infinity War (2018). Pratt appeared in two movies in 2016, The Magnificent Seven (with Denzel Washington) and Passengers (with Jennifer Lawrence). Both films allowed Chris to perfect his roll with the punches attitude, speak funny lines that broke up the tension, and began to show that he is able to take on more complex roles with dramatic elements. If he does not tie himself down to one genre (or to too many franchises), he will be free to try a variety of roles, and right now is sure to be getting the offers.
Chris was born in Virginia, Minnesota, wrestled in high school, and was discovered while working at a restaurant in Maui. His first film role was in Cursed Part 3 (2000, a short horror film) but was soon acting in tv shows Everwood (all 4 seasons 2002-2006), The O.C. (9 episodes 2006-2007), and Parks and Recreation (all 7 seasons 2009-2015). Before the end of Parks and Recreation (the show which really put him on Hollywood’s radar), Chris appeared in Wanted (2008 starring Angelina Jolie), Bride Wars (2009 starring Kate Hudson), Jennifer’s Body (2009 starring Megan Fox), Moneyball (2011 starring Brad Pitt), 10 Years (2011 starring Channing Tatum), The Five-Year Engagement (2012 starring Jason Segel), Zero Dark Thirty (2012 starring Jessica Chastain), Her (2013 starring Joaquin Phoenix), and Delivery Man (2013 starring Vince Vaughn). Pratt has acted with his wife Anna Faris in the films What’s Your Number? (2011), Take Me Home Tonight (2011), Movie 43 (2013), and appeared in 1 episode of the tv show Mom (2017) which she stars on. There are 3 Lego toys based on characters Chris has portrayed, including Peter from Guardians of the Galaxy, Emmet from The Lego Movie (2014), and Owen from Jurassic World (2015, a sequel is in the works).
Thank you and Happy Birthday Chris!
