Despicable Me 3

Despicable Me 3

Despicable Me 3 came out in theatres recently, is the fourth film to star the lovable yellow minions, and is being successful across the globe. Illumination Pictures developed DM3 as their 8th film in their 10th year of operation, (the first Despicable Me is their first) and as a first for them, used a wider aspect ratio (2.35:1 versus 1.85:1, it shows on the big screen). Music was made by Pharrell Williams, the minions, and by Heitor Pereira (who has done the score for all of the franchise). Continuing the story of Gru, his family, and the minions, the film adds some characters, travels to another country, and gives everyone something to do, expertly handled with the 90 minute run time. Kristen Wiig’s Lucy had some heartfelt moments with the young girls, they had a bit of growing up in this film to deal with, and the minions were adorable, clever, and funny throughout the film. Trey Parker stole scenes with his character that had a clever set of movements, gadgets, and a catchphrase. Adding Trey, a 20 year veteran of voicing South Park characters (this is his first film marketed to children), was a great idea after having a long list of talented actors voicing roles in the previous films such as Sandra Bullock, Jon Hamm, Michael Keaton, Allison Janney, Geoffrey Rush, Benjamin Bratt, Jason Segel, Russell Brand, Will Arnett, and Julie Andrews. If you are young or old, want to see a beautifully colored animated film, and want to have some laughs, check out Despicable Me 3.
