Under the Sea 3D

Under the Sea 3D is an IMAX film showcasing the vibrant aquatic life in Australia, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea. Filming in beautiful blue areas that are densely populated by a variety of species makes for an amazing visual treat. I appreciated that they did not only pick the most familiar types of animals to show and instead chose to find the most unique creatures and was able to capture some incredible moments. Most of the voice over are facts about the coastal wildlife sprinkled with a few family friendly jokes by Jim Carrey. Footage like this is the reason why we should have high definition displays. Seeing the color palette of the coral reef, the eyes of tiny creatures blinking, or a school of fish passing by with the sunlight shimmering is moving and a work of natural art. This film is available in non 3D which is the version I watched (the case featured a 3D cover!) and it also makes a point to highlight the damages being made to all water life, showing why we should take better care of our planet. Watch, learn, or feel free to use as a screen saver when company is over as there are no talking head cut aways (it stays in the water). Or use as a sleep aid and let a subdued Ace Ventura tell you a bedtime story.
