David Giuntoli

David Giuntoli

The first time I saw David Giuntoli was at a comic convention and it was also the first time I saw my wife a tad star struck. She is a huge fan of the tv show Grimm (6 seasons 2011-2017) and after we waved and took photos (he snapped one back!) we began to watch the show from the beginning. It is about a detective (David) that also fights the supernatural, like if the X-Files centered on Van Helsing. The show is filmed in Portland, Oregon, is largely inspired by Grimms’ Fairy Tales (first published in 1812) and David’s starring role allows for him to exude his charm, humour, and action. David puts out a disarming feeling of being easy going, until he is threatened and his eyes betray him. Actors you can sympathize with are the best ones and David has that likeable quality of feeling like you know what he is going through. In 2016 he would lean on the action side for 13 Hours (starring John Krasinski) and use his charm and humour in Buddymoon. Buddymoon saw David hiking through the mountains with his best friend (Flula Borg, known from Pitch Perfect 2), the laughs coming from their banter and relationship.

David was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, earned a degree in business and finance, and appeared as himself on the MTV reality tv show Road Rules at age 22 (2003). He appeared as himself in another reality shows, The Challenge (2003-2004) and hosted 27 episodes of Buzz: AT&T Original Documentaries (2007-2010). Giuntoli has been in many different tv shows including Ghost Whisperer, Veronica Mars, Nip/Tuck, Grey’s Anatomy, The Unit, Without a Trace, Cold Case, Hot in Cleveland, Private Practice, and Key and Peele. Films he has been in with his Grimm co-stars include Caroline and Jackie (2012 with Elizabeth Tulloch) and Buddymoon (2016 with Claire Coffee). Since the tv show Grimm completed, David will next be seen in the tv movie/show Mission Control (about NASA, written by the author of The Martian, Andy Weir).

Thank you and Happy Birthday David!
