Steve Carell
Steve Carell was born in Concord, Massachusetts, was a hockey goalie and a disc jockey while in university, and got his first acting credit for Curly Sue (1991 comedy with James Belushi). He may be best known for playing Michael Scott in the American version of The Office (2005-2013), voicing Gru in the Despicable Me films and shorts (2010-2017), and was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for Foxcatcher (2014 drama with Channing Tatum). Though he normally plays over reacting roles in comedies to many laughs, Carell is capable of playing dramatic roles. Getting his start in tv shows and movies, Steve stole scenes in Bruce Almighty (2003 comedy starring Jim Carrey) and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004 comedy starring Will Ferrell, as well as the sequel in 2013) which lead to him starring in The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005 comedy he co-wrote with director Judd Apatow). Adding more heart to his comedies, Steve soon appeared in Little Miss Sunshine (2006), Dan in Real Life (2007), Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011), Seeking a Friend for the End of the World (2012), and The Way Way Back (2013). A go to for the male lead in comedies, Steve got laughs in Get Smart (2008 with Anne Hathaway), Date Night (2010 with Tina Fey), and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone (2013 with Steve Buscemi), while also doing voice work for Over the Hedge (2006 with Bruce Willis), and Horton Hears a Who! (2008 again with Jim Carrey). Most recently Steve was in The Big Short (2015 drama comedy with Christian Bale about the housing bubble collapse), Café Society (2016 written and directed by Woody Allen), and is currently in theatres having voiced for Despicable Me 3. He will next be seen in Battle of the Sexes (comedy about a tennis match in the 1970s with Emma Stone), and Last Flag Flying (comedy drama adapted and directed by Richard Linklater).
Thank you and Happy Birthday Steve!
