Kingsman: The Golden Circle is an action comedy continuing the story of the British secret agent Eggsy played by Taron Egerton (Eddie the Eagle, 2016 comedy drama with Hugh Jackman). The movie is rated 14A, was filmed in the UK and Italy, and is the sequel to 2014’s Kingsman: The Secret Service also co-written and directed by Matthew Vaughn (Kick Ass in 2010, X-Men: First Class in 2011). International espionage, car chases, shootouts, and explosions all appear in this sequel also starring Colin Firth, Mark Strong, Julianne Moore, Channing Tatum, and Halle Berry.
Stronger is a true story about Jeff Bauman who lived through the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing starring Jake Gyllenhaal (Life, 2017 sci-fi thriller with Ryan Reynolds). The movie is rated 14A, was filmed in Massachusetts, and is based on the book of the same name by Jeff Bauman and Bret Witter. Director David Gordon Green last made the features Our Brand is Crisis (2015 comedy drama with Sandra Bullock) and Manglehorn (2014 drama with Al Pacino). Emotions will be tested, hope will be sought after, and Gyllenhaal again tries a role unlike most of his work (other than it will be dramatic).
The LEGO Ninjago Movie is an animated action film about a son who tries to stop his evil father with the help of ninjas. The movie is rated G, was made by the same studio that created The LEGO Movie (2014) and The LEGO Batman Movie (2017), and has 6 screenwriters and all 3 directors are making their feature debut, (Charlie Bean, Paul Fisher, and Bob Logan). Clever dialogue, numerous moving parts fitting together, and ninja action is sure to appear along with additional voices from Fred Armisen, Kumail Nanjiani, Michael Peña, Justin Theroux, and Olivia Munn.
Battle of the Sexes is a true story about a tennis match in 1973 between Billie Jean King (Emma Stone, La La Land with Ryan Gosling in 2016) and Bobby Riggs (Steve Carell, Café Society with Woody Allen in 2016). The movie is rated PG, was filmed in Los Angeles, and was written by Simon Beaufoy (Everest, 2015 adventure with Jason Clark) and is directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (who last directed Ruby Sparks, 2012 fantasy comedy with Paul Dano). Gender rights, trash talking, and tennis will also be in the movie with Andrea Riseborough, Sarah Silverman, Bill Pullman, Alan Cumming, and Elisabeth Shue.
