Sacha Baron Cohen
Sacha Baron Cohen turns 46 today! He was born in Hammersmith, London, England, got his first acting credit for Jack and Jeremy’s Police 4 (1995 crime comedy), his first series was Comedy Nation (10 episode comedy in 1998), and is perhaps best known for portraying the lead character in Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006 comedy which he also co-wrote and was Oscar nominated for Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay). Being able to lose himself unrecognizable into each role, other than his no limits approach to getting laughs, Cohen is as committed to a joke as anyone. Another of his characters, Ali G first appeared in the comedic The 11 O’Clock Show (1998-1998) before Da Ali G Show (2000-2004) gave Cohen his own series to star in which also created another of his personas, Brüno. While largely working in comedy, he has also appeared in musicals and voiced in the Madagascar trilogy (2005-2012 animated adventures with Ben Stiller). Stealing scenes from Will Ferrell in Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006 comedy as the Frenchman Jean Girard), and from Johnny Depp in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007 musical), lead Cohen to star in Brüno (2009 comedy), appear in Hugo (2001 adventure directed by Martin Scorsese), star in The Dictator (2012 comedy with Anna Faris), and sing in Les Misérables (2012 musical with Hugh Jackman). Most recently appearing in Grimsby (2016 action comedy with Mark Strong), and Alice Through the Looking Glass (2016 adventure with Mia Wasikowska), Cohen will next lead the action adventure Mandrake the Magician, (based on the comic strip illusionist).
